Do I have malicious RunDII32 files affecting my battery?

    Hi There

I have been having trouble with my pc flickering when it is unplugged. I have changed it to high performance setting which seems to help but this is not ideal because it drains the battery quickly. When I scanned my computer to see which apps are chowing battery life, windows host application RunDII32.exe came up. I have read this could by spyware? When I scanned my computer's running processes, it was not listed anywhere. It also does not come up when I search for it.

I am concerned I may have a virus disguised as RunDII32 as my computer only relies on Windows defender to protect it. I have downloaded the DDS and created the "attach" and "DDS" files.

    Please see below.

Thank you in advance for your assistance, I hope you can provide some clarity as to why my computer keeps flickering.

P.S. When I fiddle with the settings once the computer is up and running, the flickering seems okay, however, every time I switch my computer off its like it resets all my settings and the flickering is back.
Oh and I have noticed my number nine key also does not work. Any advice? This is awkward because i use the key for my password to log onto my computer.

    Kind regards
    Lize

Hello and welcome Lize now this could be either the Windows .exe which I believe is responsible for running the dll's in the system or it could possibly be a malware so please run these and post back if they find anything.

(NB If you are running Kaspersky as the main AV then it might need disabling it when trying ADW because it does not like it at times)

    Hi again

So I have run all of those programs and this is what came up. See attached.

It seems like spyware and adw cleaner removes it for free, but it says I must buy the anti-malware. Is this necessary? Is there a free program available that will sort me out?

    Thanx

    Hi Lize,

    Please uninstall Plumbytes
Only found 1 review and it wasn't very complimentary!

    REBOOT

please download and run malwarebytes from here, you only ran ADW.
    Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1 - Download - FileHippo.com

This is version 2, update the definitions ONLY
    (dont upgrade to V3)
    As your running w10

Pretty sure it will flag Plumbytes as a PUP, indentified in the ADW scan.

I also see an omptimiser listed by SAS, not worth the effort uninstall it as well

As a final AV check before installing another AV
please run, dissable MSE should have gone live after reboot
    ESET on-line scan
Free Virus Scan | Online Virus Scan from ESET | ESET

There are plenty of GOOD freeware AV's
Avast, Avira, Bitdefender (mine W7), panda (mine w10)
Although youll find many keep MS on 10

Going back to your flicker screen are your graphics drivers upto date?
Have a look at this article, run the command mode and compare yours to the good/bad in it

    note
you will more than likely have 2 power plan type Programs, MS and Samsung your reset could be Samsung kicking back in, or vise versa

Sorry late reply and Roy has said about what I would have posted and you will find most of the good free ones here too
Free Windows Desktop Software Security List | Gizmo's Freeware < go to the real time section and there you will find the free ones. A tip though I alwasy tell folks to avoid the AVG, Baidu, Comodo (an awful nagger) McAfee, and the 360 endpoint (only because I do not known for sure who makes it or have tested it myself).
The ones from that listing I have tried out are Avast, Avira, Bitdefender (good interface) Sophos, Panda, MSE, are all pretty good and there are some run along side ones too though I have not tested them out yet.
One more that I find quite good too is this but it does take a while to run

Hello Lize am glad it is back to something approaching normal.

Now one little thing you might be interested in is this Optimize Windows 7 it is my bible when clean installing, fixing friends or family computers and I have used it for a very long time on all my machines.
It might not interest you but it will if some of the tweaks are implemented make your machine that little bit faster and more efficient - you may lose some of the "bling" like transparency (you don't have to) but I think that feature is overrated to be honest. If you do go ahead and use the tutorial and have any problems the authour Brink will be only too pleased to help out and we are always here too.
