Keyboard and mouse touchpad stop working after updating windows.

OK can someone plz help. I have this problem where upon doing the windows updating thing for my Toshiba windows 7 laptop 64 bit, my touch mouse pad and whole key board stops working. I manage to still log in and get about in Windows by doing the on screen keyboard thing with a USB connected mouse. When I go device manager it has a yellow exclamation mark over it. When I try to uninstall it and immediately restart windows, it still doesn't work. The only thing that does get it working again is making a restore point, which with this computer I do often lol. Can I get suggestions as of wat it might be? Could it be a bad update since it only happens upon updating?

Hello and welcome Kolaner now first up yes it can be the update and the way of fixing that is lie you have been doing system restore.

Now what you can do is update the driver for the touchpad and KB in that case but I cannot link you to the update site at Toshiba without knowing what the PART NO is on the bottom of your machine. This is important to know because that relates to where the machine was made and where for. see pic of my old Toshiba label.

Once we get that then it is just a matter of getting the driver form the Toshiba site.

By the by I see you are running AVG and I have to say it is not an AV that I would ever run ever again after having many issues with it years ago and if I were you I would install something else. But the choice is yours of course and if you choose to keep it then at least disbale it when you install any drivers.

If you decide to install something else then there are plenty here for free and just see the real time AV's but again avoid AVG, Ad Aware, Baidu, McAfee and Comodo (only because Comodo is an awful nagger. The preferred ones are Bitdefender, Avast, Avira , Sophos and MSE.

Free Windows Desktop Software Security List - Realtime Protection | Gizmo's Freeware - once again the choice is yours.

OK thanks man. Lol, don't know why I didn't think of updating my mouse pad. I check and the driver is from 2006! But OK, my part # is PSC0YU-018001 if that wat u wanted. Toshiba Satellite laptop and the model or serial # is 6B027303Q. Now where would I find a updated correct driver for the keyboard part since Toshiba don't have any. All I saw was the drivers for the mouse touch pad? Btw, thanks for the advice on the AVG Software I have. How u know I had that though. Lol, don't remember mentioning that in my post.
