Laptop's keyboard randomly stops working (from time to time)

    Hey all!

I am having a very annoying problem, and lately it's happening more and more (coincidence?)
So basically, my laptop's keyboard (so not an external USB keyboard), just stops working on random moments.

I can be in the middle of a meeting, working for school projects, writing essays,... and suddenly, my keyboard stops working for no apparent reason.
When browsing 'Device Manager' and looking at my Keyboard's driver there seems to be no problem at all.
'This device is working correctly'. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the driver but that didn't change anything.

I even reformatted my whole computer (for another reason), and reinstalled all my drivers from fresh, but still, the problem occurs.
It says I have a "Standard PS/2 Keyboard"
    Hardware ID: ACPI\DLLK062C
My computer is a DELL Latitude E5550.

Interesting detail: I get my driver back to work by rebooting my computer. This works 99% of the time. If it doesn't, I just keep on rebooting until it gives a sign of life/
Another way is by putting it to sleep. This has a success rate of about 60%. Mostly this works, if it doesn't I keep putting it back to sleep until it works again.
However, mostly the problem starts occuring again just a few seconds later, which makes me forced to do a whole restart of my system until it works again for a few hours.

This is getting really on my nerves, certainly since I don't have any control over it. It just happens, and I can't figure out why.

Anyone know what I can do or what might be the cause?

    Cheers!

Have you tried restoring your system to Factory Default settings?

Hello and welcome aze now first up mate can you follow this
Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this System Info - See Your System Specs
or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you don’t know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.
    *(pretyped to save time)

Now you say the drivers are all up to date I would like to know where you got them from please as the Windows feature is not in my mind very reliable or of any use really. The only place to get drivers is from the Dell site.

Having said that this could be simply down to a faulty KB or it's connections - just a thought to keep in mind. The fact that it comes back after rebooting may simply be down to physical contact with the board. I am assuming you are using a mouse for navigating?? or the touchpad??

Another thing you can do is to look in the Device Manager and see if there are any yellow triangles in the devices as in my pic. It contains an example of a problem (I know what mine is by the way)
