Disabling it just makes it not come up for new devices and not do the saved settings for old devices. A program like skype for instance will still see a webcam ect. If you can see the device in devices and printers it can be seen by all other applications.

Oh okay, that is Auto Play. I'm happy with Auto Play in the various Operating System versions. Maybe Autoruns can override Autoplay rules? Could be autorun is what I am seeking to find more about? Would that resolve the particular question that I have raised?

What if say for example, SLR device had been added to devices and printers while devices was enabled in Operating System? Then afterwards disabled. Perhaps by auto run. Would then the SLR still show in devices and printers, yet not seen by other applications and utilities?

Neither Autorun nor Autoplay will enable or disable devices, these are the differences.

I'm actually at my wit's end... A recent Thunderbird update has created a new "Paragraph" feature when composing messages. That means that each time the enter key is pressed, the cursor advances two lines instead of one, UNLESS you click a button and set the editor to "Body Text". If you do...

Windows opens "Camera" .jpgs with Windows Photo Viewer--How to stop?
All my .jpg files are associated with IrFanView, but when the .jpg is located on a camera connected via USB e.g. my iPhone, double-clicking that .jpg opens it in Windows Photo Viewer, which I hate because it usually gets the orientation wrong. Why does Windows insist on opening Camera jpgs with...

Since I haven't been able to find anything that directly refers to this, I'm taking a shot in the wild blue here, in case maybe someone here knows at least enough to point me in the right direction. I am a long-time Windows XP user. But I have a couple of newer computers (including a laptop)...

Windows Explorer Navigational drop "feature"
Something that has bothered me since I installed Win7 is the way WE handles folder navigation. When one clicks on the arrow next to a folder (left pane), often, the folder drops to the bottom of the left pane. And often, there is a short delay before it does so. This irritates me to no end....
