How can I formt a WD20EZRX taken from a NAS drive?

    Hi,
I had a NAS enclosure which failed due to a problem with the interface board. I managed to retrieve the data from the drive to a spare drive. I would now like to use the WD20EZRX as a spare or in a USB enclosure. I have tried to format it via Computer Management, Storage, where it is seen as a basic partition with raw data. Each time I try it says it is formating then after quite a long period of time it says 'format could not be completed'.

Any ideas as to what I can try next?

    thanks,
    Gerald

Thanks for the reply, tried that this morning. Unfortunately after running the clean command the disk is no longer visible.

Is it a Legacy MBR or UEFI GPT drive?

Thanks for all you help, I managed to get a partition on the drive and format it, but when I came to do a check on the disk it showed all the sectors were bad.
