If, by chance it is an OS problem I wonder if running sfc /scannow will help? might be worth a try!

I would feel this is a Windows setting or bug as it is happening on different PC's with a range of printers from Oki, Lexmark, HP and Cannon. Don't think that all their printer drivers can be at fault.

Then why not try the suggestion in post #11?

I have run sfc /scannow and the result is "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" so looks like to problems reported.

Any further suggestions?

I am clutching at straws now but just one more thought. Go to "Control Panel" then "View devices and Printers" and see if you have two copies of the printer software showing.

That can be a possibility if it is an AIO (All In One, Print Scan, Copy.) Certainly happens with my HP Photosmart C5380. Listed as a Printer and a Scanner in "Devices & Printers", as two separate devices, when in fact it is one device with 3 separate functions.

As the Canon MX885 is an AIO it shows as one device but on "right click" printing preferences etc there is the option of MX885 fax or MX885 printer. I have always been using the Printer option as that's what I need.

Any further ideas? There seems to be a lot of similar issues if searching the internet but no solutions.
Thanks

My last suggestion would be to unplug the printer and delete it using Revoo Uninstaller. Then reconnect, switch on and see if Windows can find and install the drivers. Use that to see if it solves the problem. Any further features, drivers or utilities can be added from the Canon Support website.

I really don't have any idea of any other solutions to try, sorry.

Does anyone know if a Windows Registry Setting could be causing this problem? There are a lot of entries relating to printers there.

It's helpful if you see our advice and then post back with information that it worked or did not work, but until you do that, we will be unaware of whether you are trying solutions advised.

I would NOT go messing around with registry settings unless you are absolutely certain of what you are doing. Many Printer settings in Registry are not necessarily in connection with the specific printer you installed.
