Printing Problem - Number of copies not holding.

If through Control Panel - Printers - Printing Preferences I set the printer to print 2 copies and save, then when selecting this printer to print from Notepad etc the number of copies stays at one. Should it not default to two as set in printer preferences?

Can anyone advise why this is happening?

It would be better to set the number of prints required in the actual printer itself. Access the printer & there should be a setting you can set for the default number of copies you want.

    Thanks for your reply.

Sorry if there has been misunderstanding. In the default printer I have set the number of copies to 2 through printing preferences. When selecting to print with this printer from any application like Notepad, Word, Sage Accounts etc the Number of copies in the print dialogue window in the application is always one, but it should show as 2. I have to change it manually to 2 each time.

Any idea why this is happening?

In your Printer Properies window have you got "Always print with these preferences" checkbox? Might be helpful if we had the printer make and model details!

The printer is Canon MX885. But this problem is not specific to one printer but happens with different printers and also on another Windows 7 computer. Can it be related to .net or permissions?

    Thanks again.

    If as you say
this problem is not specific to one printer but happens with different printers and also on another Windows 7 computer.
If two copies choice woks on some PC's but not others
Then I am looking for the common denominator! This would appear to be the printer software. You could try this but before proceeding make sure you have the Printer software to hand.
Uninstall the printer completely, I would use Revo Uninstaller for this, that way you delete all the registry entries. Then re install.

Re above": I am having a similiar challenge with my Brother MFC-J6520DW. I set the number of copies to 2 or mor and the printer will not print any. Set it to one and no problems.
I have been in contact with brother support. They ahve, through remote access un-installed and reinstalled the printer twice. Still no joy. They advised me thast it is a Microsoft OS problem.
Contacted Microsoft Suipport. Under their guidance changed startup optionms to Microsoft products only. then, using the "services.msc" command accessed the printer spooler command and stopped and restarted the spooler than restarted the computer. Still no joy.
Microsoft are sayinng it is a Brother prolem and Brother are saying it is a Microsoft problem. Sooo, where to from here?

Oh dear, this is a familiar situation & I have heard it right from the days of Windows 3.1. :)
