    Hard Drive really Dead?

Hello My Desktop Computer a Dell optiplex 755 with Windows 7 Professional recently started crashing with a Blue Screen of Death every time I booted up and would try and run something like Google Chrome. I ran some tests with Dell Diagnostics and the final result are below:

    error code 0146

    MSG: Error Code 2000-0146
MsG: Hard drive 0-self test log contains previos errors
The given error code and message can be used by dell
Technical Support to help diagnose the problem.
Do you want to continue testing

Now is this it for my Hard Drive? Or can I fix bad Sectors? Or try s0mething else besides just replacing the Hard Drive?

Welcome to the forum. If sectors are bad there is nothing you can do and the drive could fail at any time. It's worth going to diskmakers site and getting their test program to check it

Yeah so far DRevitalize V1.21 "Light" has shown Bad Sectors found 233. And Bad Sectors recovered a big fat Zero. Should I even bother keeping the scan going? Or should I just shoot on over to Western Digital and do their scan?

It has been running about 5 hours so far...

    Thanks for Having me

Abort it its dead time for a new one. How old is it as a lot have a long warrenty now. You will have to do a clean install on a new drive dont try cloning this drive as it will write bad block to a new one

    Warranty

Yeah the Warranty ran out last March ;-( Iv'e had the computer a few years. Is the windows 7 that is on this Hard Drive no good as well? I don't have a Windows install disk. I have the Product key # on the sticker...

what do I have to do? Purchase a New copy of Windows 7?

I am running the Western digital Data lifeguard Diagnostics on the HD as I write this. So far the quick test passed with no errors. doing the Extended Test now...

Ok HD passed with no errors for extended test either. Now i'm really confused?
