Can't hide empty card reader drive

I have never had an issue with this before but the card reader in my PC is now showing as an empty drive in explorer. I've had it for years and it has never been a problem.

Toggling the 'Hide empty drives in the computer folder' option doesn't resolve the issue and neither does changing the same setting in the registry.

I had installed some drivers to try and get my OnePlus 5 to appear on my PC correctly (another issue...) but uninstalled them when this was not successful. I had already tried reinstalling the OnePlus drivers a couple of times and it was only after the last time that the empty drive started showing. I've no idea why or if this is the cause of the problem but it might be of some use.

Does anyone know how to make the drive appear as hidden again? I'd rather not go down the route of renaming and disabling drives that some people tend to take.

Maybe a simple uninstall/reinstall will take care of it.
Go to the Device Manager, uninstall the card reader. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall it. This fixes many problems and MAY take care of your problem.

Hide empty drives only works if you also have Don't show hidden, files, folders or drives selected in folder options.

Have you by chance selected show hidden files, folders and drives?
