CD Drive Fixed, Thank you

I've just had 4 days n nights trying to discover where my DVDRW Drive went! Maybe an app I installed did this; I still cannot say, but I did do everything that google had to offer to no avail, however I recall someone on this site recommending a person go into their bios and change the settings back to " Restore their settings back to default factory settings" but I paid no attention because I thought this would screw up all the time & effort I've put into my laptop(!). I did end up doing a clean install and still no DVD Drive (this got me thinking I was too clever for my own good 'cause I had no idea why this happened, I thought a clean install would fix this for sure, WRONG! Well last night I was getting 20-30 BSOD: Blue Screens Of Death as i desperately clung onto my stack of usb sticks trying to save all my data before the thing blew up on me. I'd already made my mind up to wipe it out & reformat\rebuild...so as I got the last of my data saved, I thought I'd go into bios for one last look at the settings b4 wipe out time...then I saw that setting this dude mentioned and I thought well I've got nothing to lose - and I hit the checkbox to do so. Well blow me away; no sooner had I done this when out of the blue up pops a window telling me windows is downloading drivers for my GTN50 DVD Drive! It downloaded, and up pops my DVD Drive after 4 long days n nights on the grinder! Hope this helps someone who like me had tried everything else to get the drive to show up in device manager and windows explorer!!! Only thing is...I still don't know how come the drive disappeared in the 1st place (but I do know what to do in future Cheers all; what an excellent forum this site is, absolutely locked & loaded with data for one of the best Windows platforms this outfit created

VirtualBox virtual drive not staying at desired fixed size.
I'm trying to install Ubuntu 12.10 on VirtualBox with a fixed size of 30 GB. However, when I start up the VM, it says I don't have the required 4.9GB of space to install and in the settings it says there's only 4MB. I've tried Googling around but I couldn't find an answer.

Hi users -please post when your problem is fixed (or even not fixed)
Hi everyone now I don't mind spending some time trying to help people and am glad for the hints and fixes I've got off these sites --but it does seem to me to be a trend with some of the newer users that they post a problem --you reply --and these guys never post a follow up --like it worked or...
