    Using PC's Bluetooth In Place of BT Mouse's USB dongle


    Greetings!

    I have a Dell Latitude 6430 and I wish to use its built-in Bluetooth to connect with a Bluetooth USB wireless mouse so I can drop its dongle and free a USB port. Windows Bluetooth app can't discover the mouse whether the the dongle is there or not.

    Thanks for any tips!

    I have a new Dell Inspiron 15. I had to use the small USB "dongle" that came with my Logitech mouse.

    Usually the mouse and dongle are "paired" and they only answer to each other. This is intentional from the factory. The exception is Logitech's "Unifying" dongle for Bluetooth, which will allow more than one Logitech device to be paired with it.

    Given that mice and keyboards use a proprietary Bluetooth pairing system, I can't see a way to do what you want to do. Shame really, that extra port comes in handy now and then.

    Most Bluetooth mice which ship with a dongle cannot link directly into the PC's Bluetooth. Some mice ARE made to directly link into the computer's Bluetooth and so state so (they will not ship with a dongle). One exception, which I use with my Win 10 machine, is the Logitech MX Master which can link directly to the PC with or without the dongle.

    Is your Bluetooth device enabled? Some Laptops, (for security reasons) keep them disabled.
    Did you open device manager to see if there is a yellow alert on any driver?
