Why created folders shown as hidden in ext. hard disk

Hi, I created a image backup of disk c: using macrium reflect on seagate 1.5 tb ext.hdd portable. After that, i have copied some files and created a new folder in the drive. But when i copy something and then browse to the ext. hdd drive, the folder i created is not shown normally and when i opt for viewing showing hidden folders and system files, the folder does shows. Why?
Why it is hiding the folder, but showing the image file?
Moreover, when i try to delete the folder, i get the error, the directory not empty and if i wish to delete the files inside the folder , i get access denied message. Why this weird thing. Any fix for it.
I have tried chkdsk /r on the drive. I opted for quick format. Formatting of normal format on 1.5 tb would take days to finish. pl

The folder may have an hidden attribute.
Right click on the folder - properties and see if hidden is marked.
