Are There Any Services That Can Affect How A USB Flash Performs

    Windows 7 64Bit Professional SP1
    No Other Updates
    SSD OS Drive

I am just running a test machine so I can test some items out.
I have been disabling some services, turning off features, etc. and I was just wondering if there are any "Services", "Features", Settings, etc. that can affect how a USB flash drive performs.

I am using a USB3 flash drive, in a USB3 port and on occasion I have been noticing little things, not sure if they are just the nature of a USB flash drive or something I have maybe altered.
On occasion I notice that when I first plug in the flash drive, I get an initial kind of pause before it reacts in a file explorer, then it will work more fluidly after. I have also noticed this also when I go to move files to the flash drive.
Also a couple of other little things here and there.

All my drivers are up to date.

I am sure that it is as I mentioned just the nature of USB and USB flash drive, but I was just wondering if there are any settings that could affect how a USB flash drive performs?

I believe I disabled "fetch" and "superfetch" which is called "SysMain" which when I looked it up also is linked to "ReadyBoost" which I do not use. Not sure if any of these items would cause anything?

Anyways, if anyone has any information to share, please do so.
    Thank You

The only difference is if you enable / disable quick removal.
Right click on drive - properties - Hardware tab - select the USB drive - Properties
It will open a second window - Policies tab - two options
    - Quick removal
    - Better performance

    @Megahertz07
Thank you for your response, I honestly did not know about that tab.
Even worse, my usb flash drive has been set to quick removal all this time, and I have been ejecting the damn thing each time I remove it!
I will give the "performance" option a test.

What does everybody else set their USB flash drives to?
It mentions with "performance" you will have to eject each time, and if a power outage occurs you may lose data.
    Any other downsides?

    Thanks Again

If you or anyone else has any other tips about USB flash drives to share please share them.
    Thank You

    There is no miracle.
The time that it takes to write data to the disk is the same. Performance writes to a cache and says it's done when in fact it's writing from the cache to the disk.
Either way, always remove it after "Safely Remove Hardware...""
