Defragmenting large drives?

Again, stick with Windows 7 defragger

I'm pretty sure you can defrag SSDs as long as you are using the manufacturer's tool, not Microsoft's.

See what I mean? Two opposite opinions in the same thread. I think for now I'll just leave alone, as someone else suggested here earlier.

That's pretty much true of HDDs (keep in mind that data isn't always recoverable on failed HDDs) but the vast majority of the time, when an SSD fails, the data is irrecoverable.

If you need to defrag a very large drive, do what everybody else does. Get an even LARGER drive. Problem solved. :)

Yes. For HDDs, just stick with Microsoft's Defragmenter. For SSDs I highly recommend using their own software because they have their own algorithm of defragmenting.
