Sorry what I meant to say was that the hdd is connected to the adapter via molex and the adapter is connected to the Automatic voltage regulator via the A/C adapter. Pls see picture above. I'll still try your suggestion though.
I hope you haven't already damaged your drive by using the A/C adapter that came with it.

I think if there is a chance to recover your data from this drive, Linux is your best choice, like Jumanji said. And whatever you do, DO NOT use the A/C adapter that came with your IDE to USB adapter.

When booting lucid puppy I get this:

"lupu_528.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console... /bin/ah: can't access try; job control turned off #"

    And stops.

But when I checked the pen drive the file exists.

Are you using a USB 3 port? I have come to know that Puppy Linux does not support USB 3 ports. Try plugging your Lucid Puppy Flash drive into an USB 2 port and boot.

    You may try the following:
    1. If the PC has the CSM( Compatibility Support Module) setting in BIOS/UEFI, enable it first.
    2. Disable Secure boot temporarily. ( Remember to restore secure boot afterwards when the job is finished)
    3. Enable Legacy USB support option in BIOS/UEFI setup

Check your motherboard documentation on BIOS/UEFI setup. ( Note down any changes you make so that you can revert later)

You may also burn a CD with that ISO and boot from that CD to eliminate USB from the equation. ( This worked for a OP in TenForums Harddrive Failure or Hardware Failure? - Page 3 - Windows 10 Forums)

How can you be using both the A/C adapter that came with it AND the molex power connection for this drive? There's only one power connector on the drive; you can't plug in two power sources at the same time.
    .
Some of my older sata drives have a molex connector and others do not. When bench testing, I connect the molex power to the adapter and others directly to the molex connector because the usb does not have enough power. The warning on the drive says it all
