Mouse stops working on usb port (Dell Latitude E5430)

This occurred during a firefox crash. Pretty interesting. If I use another port it will accept and read devices, but no luck on this particular usb port (left-hand side). This has happened before and after restarting the P.C. it works fine. I'm just wondering what might cause this so I can fix the issue. I'm checking my regedit and everything is where it should be in the USBSTOR.

Usually when a USB device/port stops working, its status is corrupt in Windows.
In most cases, plug the device in to the "bad" port. Go to the Device Manager and usually an unknown device will be shown in the USB section. Uninstall the device and then disconnect the device from the PC. Reboot the PC and connect the device and it will work.

In this case, the Firefox crash probably caused the corruption. This also happens with devices that are not removed using the "safely remove hardware" function (USB icon in the lower right notification area). Mice generally are not a safely remove device but I mention this.
