Win 7 Pro X64 and iPhone 5 Bluetooth Pairing

I use a pair of ReSound LiNX 3D hearing aids and control them with an iPhone 5 my son 'handed up' to me. I recently realized that if I could use Bluetooth to pair my iPhone with my desktop I could dispense with ripping out the hearing aids and substituting earbuds each time I wanted to hear audio on my desktop. Both the desktop and the iPhone are as updated as possible.

I find many conflicting posts. Some make a convincing case that Apple will not allow 'file sharing' between a PC and an iPhone to protect the latter from viruses. I've seen posts that suggest that passing Bluetooth audio from my PC to my hearing aids via the iPhone should be possible.

This afternoon, after a few false starts, I thought I'd managed only to be told that I needed a driver for the 'device' (iPhone I presume.) I tried to let Windows fix the problem but it apparently failed. On the iPhone I get the suggestion that I 'forget the device (my PC)' when I try pairing. I can force close the Settings app but when I go back to Bluetooth it just shows 'not connected.'

Has someone more experienced worked out how to make this work?

thanks
baumgrenze
