Can't use mouse or keyboard on startup (nor in safe mode)

I recently came out of sleep mode to my computer crashing and needing a chkdsk scan..now when my computer is started up a couple programs / drivers crash and will not let me use mouse and keyboard. I proceeded to try in safe mode to disable programs/drivers but still could not use the mouse and keyboard. I tried using a generic second keyboard and mouse but no luck there either. I don't have mouse/keyboard that are not USB. I also tried enabling usb legacy support in bios (been searching ways to fix on the net for the past 2 hours), and disabled driver signature enforcement. I literally cannot do anything.

I also don't know where my installation disk is either. (One of the kids probably took it to their house which is 3 hours away).

Please help, I have a lot of work to get done, and also have all my work files / data on that hard drive as well. (on my crappy laptop atm)

Thanks in advance.

Brian L.

Also would like to add that upon windows starting up I get

C:/Windows/system32/programname.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error.

Several other programs instanstly crash as I am loaded onto the desktop.

I haven't installed anything..or done any updates in the past 2 weeks, so I really don't understand how the heck my computer just became completely unusable by just taking it out of sleep mode.

As a temporary workaround, you can use your computer by booting with a Linux Live DVD. This will put you in Linux, with a browser and all of the basic stuff. And it won't make changes to Windows. To get out of Linux, remove the DVD and reboot.

I suggest you go here (https://linuxmint.com/download.php) and pick one of the xfce distros. Create a DVD with the .ISO file that you will download, then boot on the problematic computer with the DVD in the drive.

Doing this will allow you to use the computer till you can resolve this issue.
