New HDD detected as external HDD but not as internal in dell inspiron

    Hi
Recently my windows 7 get into startup repair loop and I decided to buy a new internal HDD and install it to my laptop and keep the other as external.
When I installed the new my laptop didn't recognize it. I put in the case and initialized and it was recognized. But then I use aomei to clone the partition of the OS to the new drive because I lost my recovery disk. Now my laptop don't recognize my disk again. I took the disk and put in the case and format it in my other laptop (is visible when I connect it as external disk) but if I put inside the laptop still isn't recognized. I format in 512 because I find it solved the problem to other person but didn't work. The mother board is Ok because it recognize the old hard drive. Can you help me please?

    ? what's the "disk signature"?

(if it's data then how big is it? and where's it stored physically? (in the MBR?))

    Hi,
I do what Samurai suggested and also the disk isn't inserted properly on the space. It hasn't resistance when I inserted. Problem solved! Thanks Samurai.

When a he is inserted windows writes a signature to it so it know what it is and can assign a drive letter etc if you clone a drive you have two disk the same and windows can get a headache

For future reference, try doing an image backup rather than a clone, then restore the image to the new drive. I believe you would have better success with an image backup than with a clone.
