    Need several attempts to start-up

Just this week my PC has been having trouble starting up. Fails & restarts again by itself before even the ''motherboard page' appears on screen. Finally it 'kicks in' and I'm back online.

(Current hassles besides this are BSOD unsolved & screen-crash due to video card also unsolved.)

As a first step check your hard drive with chkdsk see if it's corrupted

Do you live near the sea? (oxidation - corrosion?)
Did you do a memory test?

Had this same problem a few years back. Video card was failing caused by known problem, heat ( should have cleaned the box long before, I have since made schedule). Anyhow the failing card was tripping out the overload safety of the PSU on boot. Very random and sometimes took three or four tries to start.
    Art.

I have Open Hardware Monitor, a small program that shows the temperatures on the task bar and a small window on the desktop that you can configure to show used memory and GPU temp.

My experience is that multiple attempts needed to restart a computer has always shown that the power supply is dying.

Thanks guys. I'll get back ASAP. Got a disaster on the Mrs. PC that's more urgent. Can someone comment on the post?
