More information needed. Is mouse wired or wireless? To me this isn't a mouse issue but likely other resources taking front and center from the mouse. When was the last time you cleared out non-needed startup programs out of your MSCONFIG? Also what antivirus programs are you running and how do they come back after running them? Oh and 6gb of ram IMHO is borderline if possible I suggest upping this smartly to 16gb. This could be another topic depending on how the 6gb is populated and what the motherboard can handle ! Lastly what is the condition of the desktop? When was it cleaned last with attention paid to the CPU cooler and GPU?

What about these games, do they launch from a game server, or do they launch entirely from your computer? When the problem occurs, can you still access the in-game menu, save the game and quit, without having to power button down?

I would double check the mouse is plugged into a primary usb header towards the top. I would clean the computer as well as the mouse pad and mouse optical lens. Remove from start-up all non-essential programs. I would download and run till zero detections Malewarebytes free version and if you like and you should pay for the real deal program!
Check back in after you've attended to these and let us know how things are responding.

Right now I am doing a full scan and so far it is telling me that potentially unwanted software might exist so I'll have to wait til the scan is complete to see what it is

Just keep working in steps. Key is Malwarebytes, run till zero issues. Then go to msconfig and disable all from startup tab. Reboot and scan with Malwarebtyes again. Check for updates and drivers and clean the system. Don't bother with defrag till way later as it's effect will be minor. Consider staged upgrades like imaging your drive to a SSD and upping ram to 16gb.
