Mouse pointer speed resets from 6 to 8 on every reboot

Hello. A pretty simple problem. In the Mouse Properties window from the Hardware and Devices control panel, I have "Select a pointer speed" set to 6 (the middle notch). But every time I reboot my computer, Windows resets it to 8. I can't figure out why, and would just like to have it always stay at 6.

I am using a Logitech G700s mouse, although Logitech's software and drivers for the mouse are not installed anymore (The G700s has onboard memory that stores all of the mouse bindings and DPI settings and such. So once I had everything set up the way I liked it, I uninstalled the drivers since I wouldn't need them anymore).

Is there a registry setting or something that I could fix that would prevent the mouse pointer settings from being reset?

After changing, did you hit apply?
Did you reopened the settings window just before shutting down to see if it is still on 6?

Yes and yes. Setting the speed to 6, hitting apply, and then closing the window. And after doing that, the mouse speed is at 6 for the remainder of the current session. But then after I reboot the machine, the speed is reset to 8.

Does the same happens (a reset) on screen settings ?
Do you have an administrator account?
    Are you the only user?

Windows 7 Pro has a group policies editor that you can set to restrict changes. Did you ever use gpedit.msc?

I'm not sure what you mean by resetting screen settings, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no. My resolution, brightness, color, and all other display settings do not change when I reboot the computer. The only setting that is being changed is the mouse pointer speed, as far as I can tell.

I am the only user of my computer, and I am logged in as the administrator.

I haven't used gpedit.msc before, but I went in there and looked around just now. I couldn't find anything related to mouse settings though. Do you know what option and folder they are found in?

Disregard this. I believe I found the problem. It was caused by a setting in a third-party program that was being automatically launched when Windows starts up, unknown to me until now.
