Brand new Sony Headphones work on my phone but not the PC

On the PC, the music and background noises are loud but the talking is really quiet. If I hold the 'talk' button on the headphone cable, the volume becomes normal for about 1 second then reverts back. All of the volumes on my rig at set to max and my old headphones continue to work. I bought these headphones Sony MDR-ZX310AP wanting to use them for PC and skype only not the phone. Sony support seems to think that if they work on my phone then the problem is with my computer. I'm pretty sure that my sound card is built in so I don't have many options for change. Any ideas for a fix will be greatly appreciated

    Try this.

Right click on your speaker icon then chose playback devices then right click on your headphones and chose properties. Go through the tabs to see if volume limiter is on if so uncheck the box. This is what it seems like the problem to me is.

As the standard phone headphones connect to the microphone and the headphone speakers from the one jack plug and the PC uses two, one for Mic and one for headphone speakers, you will need a cheap adaptor ...

Be careful as the connectors on Apple devices are different to those on other Phones so if you use an iPhone you may have to purchase a special, (and usually more expensive apple approved adaptor
