How Can I Boot from Module Bay (HDD Drive Caddy in Optical Drive Bay)

I have a pavilion dv7. I am operating on Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. This laptop has Drive Bay 1 (primary), Drive Bay 2, and i recently swapped in a SATA HDD caddy to occupy the optical drive slot for a 3rd hard disk bay.

Let's say i want to leave drive bays 1 & 2 empty for the moment, and i am placing the system disk into the drive caddy (a module bay device, previously the optical drive bay); will the system recognize and boot the pc? entering and setting boot sequence at the BIOS setup stage does not seem to work! during start-up, the system still checks Drive Bay 1 for a disk, and it just hangs if it doesn't detect anything there. This pc may have UEFI features.

I have posted this on HP forums, but did not get any worthwhile feedback. I need help because i really want the HDD in the optical drive slot to function as a system drive, then i can tie disk bays 1 & 2 as a separate raid drive.

    Thanks in advance.

A ODD drive is a SATA device as the HDD.
I have just replaced the ODD with a caddy on a friends laptop to add a SSD.
On BIOS, the boot priority was ODD (CD/DVD) and it booted the SSD.
Try to set boot priority to the ODD (CD/DVD).
