Never heard of that. They usually activate online without any difficulty, in exactly the same way as the system builder keys.

I had tried that and it didn't work.
Just got home so I'll have to go to it tomorrow. Appreciate the input!
Looks like it loaded just fine. It won't do Win update. Stuck on a loop there. Least of the worries now that it's at least booted to Win 7.
go to windows update>change settings. Change it to never. Reboot
got to windows update again >change settings. Change it to Check for updates but let me choose. Then check for updates.
If that doesn't work, use dism++ to d/l and install the updates.

Dism++ is self explanatory - an 8yr old can do it.
Doing both "change settings" options worked. Wow, downloading 179 updates.
All loaded up. Thow the install disk he bought was bad, the new iso install accepted the Product Key from MS.
