POST needs F1 to start and I changed the CMOS battery

I am preserving an old Biostar board and doing some small upgrades. There is onboard video
and the video seems to be ok. I ran a memory check from Win7 and no errors. I looked up F1 stop errors as hardware problem with the CMOS battery and changed that (admittedly, one I had in the tool box.)




Yet, the Power On Self Test continues to stop at loading windows demanding F1 to continue. This new
and it wasn't happeneing before. Can this be one of those stops where it looks for drivers when run
in Safe mode? I'm stumped. This board has been through a lot over the years-- my last surviving
DDR2 memory and Athlon Regore 2 core.

I get the AMD DMI data change etc completed and it goes to normal load.
This is across my HDs. Is there some BIOS setting that is not completing?

That's not clear the post is hardware and BIOS so is the error the BIOS or Windows? Have you cleared the BIOS and set back to safe default?

Ok, my misinterpretation of where hardware starts. If a redirect is needed let me know.
The POST screen displays and gives the selections of F9, F8, F! and F! is the only one that works. I can

get delete to the BIOS screen if needed. It just stops waiitng for the F1 to continue. This can't be anything new.


I understand from reading that the F1 to procede halt is for some element of hardware and that usually means change the

battery. I did that and the error persists. I don't know how to google an effective search for this in the haystack which is

google so I came in to Seven Forums. In other words I already did what I could find.
