Kaby Lake? As far as I know they blocked security updates on it for Windows 7 and 8.1 (the latter while it still had mainstream support oddly) to push Windows 10 down everyone's throats but there are workarounds to that.

You're using a 6th gen as I just seen on the post, rather than what I assumed lol, so you're fine :)

    Hi All,
    Greets,
    Sir(s),
1.Thanks for pointing out that i7-7800x belongs to Skylake platform, it is of help.
But to avoid any confusion(s) : Intel 6th generation processors are represented as Skylake Platform & they are well supported by both Intel & Microsoft. At the most, one may require to slipstream some drivers directly into the windows 7 installation media because it doesn't support new devices out of the box.

    2. I know very little about Intel Processors. Initially i thought that i3 & i5 represents 3rd & 5th generation. When i found some i3 processors listed in the 8th generation & some i7 processors in 2nd generation, it was clear to me that its a wrong way of interpretation. So, i think the best/easiest way to determine the generation is to google exact processor name & find it on Intel site.

    Thanks & Regards. ...

((( It may be a little off the topic but i agree that MS blocks Windows 7 updates for Kabylake & later. The update support is blocked for AMD 7th generation & some latest Qualcomm products as well. MS blocks update support by some updates itself! So, i think Using DISM++ to make updates is better. It tells about the undesired stuff in advance & you can avoid the problematic updates.
Though there are workouts to deal with those updates but prevention is always better than the cure. Also the work outs are just workouts & not always a foolproof cure!
The official driver support for win7, for the 7th & later generation processors, have been hit by Intel also. But modded drivers & other workouts are there. Though it becomes harder when you move towards the 8th & 9th generation.
Intel & MS don't say it out but continue support for win 8 as of now! Soon they will start to hit win 8 as well )))
