Still Running....
Finally stopped.
message " Insufficient disk space to fix volume bitmap. CHKDSK aborted.
My suggestion is to start from the beginning.
Open Disk Management select the disk, delete all partitions, create new, format as NTFS.
Need to get the data off first, been running extended hd test/scan, still running after 15 hours.
Finally stopped running, said it passed. Transferring files now, looks like its moving them so fingers crossed and then Il wipe it again.
You MUST have a backup for all your data.
Never trust a disk.
I have two disks (same size) with OS. One is my working disk and the other my backup disk.
Backup HDD has win 7 and a lot of tools. It also has a working disk image.
Once a week I connect the power cable to it, boot from it and then do a data backup of my working disk. When done I shut down and disconnect the power cable.
Yes, I was thinking putting together some old parts and have a backup server machine.
Doing another checkdisk and surface scan this morning to make sure disk is alright before moving data again. HD's have been good to me fingers crossed lol
Thanks!
