No hibernation or sleep after upgrading to SSD

I just installed a new Samsung NAND SSD 860 EVO drive in my desktop. After cloning it and then disconnecting the previous Seagate hard drive, I can't put the computer into either sleep or hibernation. I've tried resetting in Power Options, reloading Enable_Hibernate.reg, and also something else using cmd.exe to check what all is connected that can wake.

I've got it set to hibernate when I push the power button. The screen will go blank for two seconds and then turn right back on.

I really want my hibernate back, but I don't want to put the old hard drive back in to get it. If I reconnect the old drive and boot to it, hibernate works. Does anyone have any solutions?. The only difference is the hard drive. Nothing else was changed. It worked before, why won't it work now?

I would like to add that using "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" in the command prompt returns nothing. Everything is disabled.

    Did you install Samsung Magician?
Have found that it's more part of the problem than part of a solution.

You don't hibernate or sleep SSD and it will stop you doing it. There is nothing to be gained hibernate as it won't boot any quicker but it will wear out the drive the less you can write to the drive the longer it lasts all my SSD are set the same by default

I uninstalled SM and it made no difference.

I'm not worried about wearing it out. The computer now will do a cold boot in 15 seconds. What I like about hibernate is that I can leave all of my work open and shutdown the computer, and it will all be waiting for me when I turn it back on. It's not about how long it takes to boot, but how long it takes me to pick up where I left off.

Open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options.
What power plan is set? Set it to Balanced.
Edit the settings (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings) - Change advanced settings.
    Check all settings.

Edit the settings (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings) - Change advanced settings.
    Check all settings.
    Advanced Settings
    Balanced [Active]
    Sleep
    Sleep after
    Setting: 20 Minutes
    Allow hybrid sleep
    Setting: On
    Hibernate after
    Setting: 30 Minutes
    Allow wake timers
    Setting: Enable
    Power buttons and lid
    Power button action
    Setting: Hibernate
    Sleep button action
    Setting: Hibernate

Anything else? It still doesn't work. After changing it to "Balanced", I hit the power button and it shut down. Then I rebooted and set the power button to "Hibernate". I hit the power button, the screen went blank and then popped back on after 2 seconds.

I've checked my drivers and they are all up to date.

Samsung Magician probably changed some parameters.
Try to Restore plan defaults and then check again.

I restored to the defaults and then changed the power button action back from shutdown to hibernate. If I didn't do that, then it would shut down and not hibernate. Unfortunately, hibernation only lasts 2 seconds. If I can't get it to hibernate, then shutdown is the only action that will work for the power button which is not the action I want.

For what it's worth, Samsung Magician wasn't installed until the new hard drive was installed, and even then before it was installed, hibernate didn't work. For my problem, SM is just another rabbit hole.

I suspect Windows does it like it disables defrag all PC from top makers have it set that way depends on the type of SSD chips it doesn't do the drive any good so it makes sense not to write gigs of Data to it as it starts fast enough from scratch and shuts down fast
