Mass Media can't start (USB stick / SD card)

My USB ports are working ok on my MSI GT72 laptop, so deviced like Oculus Rift and USB mouse are working perfectly. But I can't access any mass media drives through USB ports, and the same goes for the card reader, no drive comes up in the Windows Explorer when I insert a SD card...

I can see the mass media devices in Device Manager with the correct names when I plug them in, but they have an exclamation mark and and Code 10 error: "the device cannot start". I'm pretty sure the USB and card reader drivers are ok and I've tried different versions of the drivers, but the drives still don't show up so I can't access the data at all. Where could the problem lie?

(I migrated my Windows 7 from an old laptop to this new one and at first the USB ports were working fine. But then something happened... The USB ports and card reader are functioning properly and I can boot from USB if necessary, so I know the hardware is functioning properly.)

    Welcome to the Forum

As you have seen Device Manager show you Exclamation Mark with Yellow triangle, and code 10 error, then you should firstly try and reinstall the mass storage device driver.
