new SSD swap to AHCI now won't boot in AHCI or SATA - WIN7Pro
clone to new SSD (Crucial MX500 500GB) and all goes well until I switch SSD over to AHCI mode (trying to get the most out of the SSD features - NCQ, TRIM, Garbage Collection, et-al...) after regedit switching AHCI on... constant BSOD stop 0x07 even when trying to boot in SAFE mode...
What's worse is that even the old HD (WD Caviar 320GB) won't boot in either AHCI or SATA mode... constant BSOD stop 0x07 even in SAFE mode...
Full install win7 Pro SP1 with all pertinent updates (minus telemetry updates) and most recent drivers for all hardware...
with the current state of the Windows7 update process (and the ridiculous number of updates as of end-2018/2019) a full re-install is an absolute last resort
I've looked at pretty much every solution to date but most solutions seem to rely on getting into at least SAFE mode... all I can do at this point is get into a command prompt from the Windows Install recovery options... (recovery options from the Win7 Install DVD)
I should note that changing the BIOS settings back to SATA or ACHI was tried in every combination... still no boot... Windows loads to the windows LOGO and then BSOD
CMOS reset, BIOS update, boot repair... nothing works
Why would setting the BIOS back to SATA not work?
