Hard drive corruption on a 2 drive dual-boot system ?
Long time ago I read that corruption can occur when an OS is on 2 drives.
I have Windows 7 on both an HDD and an SSD and plan on selecting the boot drive at startup. The HDD will be the primary or C: drive and the SSD will be the D: drive. If there were programs previously installed on the SSD when it was a C: drive, what happens when it becomes the D: drive? Will the programs run or will they be searching the C: HDD for items they need? And what happens if I install programs on the D: SSD and later make it the only drive, which would be the C: drive? I'll probably end up having one program on both drives but configured differently & am concerned about interaction between the drives. |

The programs on the SSD should run when that drive is selected. They won't run from that drive if selected when booted into the HDD.
The programs you install on the SDD should also run if you make that the only drive. Both drives will be able to see each other via My Computer but won't have any interaction. You'll be able to copy, move, etc. files from one drive to the other. |
