Thanks for the clarification. I thought you were trying to use both at the same time.

The speakers are probably humming due to interference from nearby electronics. Not uncommon. Do they work correctly after you touch the wire?

I was going to suggest that you reinstall the "stack" driver until I saw you had already done that. I would reinstall it again (without that other driver).

I was thinking the same thing.

    But Probably Not Today.

Thanks and when I try installing that driver again I'll post back the results.

Space Cowboy. I suppose you have added the Bluetooth Device, but if you haven't this MS website might help:

This YouTube might also help you as well.

I have been ill in bed all week so this has given me the time to test different scenarios. I really appreciate all your help.

I just tried installing the Toshibia's Stack Patch Only & it errored out. I see Intel just came out with a new version of their Bluetooth Driver Software
(BT_20.110.0_64_Win7.exe) but unless I feel better soon or find something else to try I think I'm going to hold off till I feel better and have a new backup tonight. I back this laptop every night to a different drive and have so for years. So I'll try and catch up to your very much appreciated suggestions and go from there. Because this has always been a issue on this laptop, I want to take it slow and get it right without messing everything else up.

    Thanks Again !!

You didn't answer my question: On Device manager, is there any yellow alert of missing drivers?

Every laptop has a radio switch to turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Is it on? Is Wi-Fi working normally?

Open device manager, right click on the Bluetooth device - properties - Details tab - Hardware ID- select the fist line, right click - copy. Paste it here. The string is something like: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0032&SUBSYS_3118168C&REV_01

There's nothing wrong with your bluetooth speakers, it's Windows 7's finicky bluetooth drivers. I have 2 bluetooth speakers.

One is the iLuv iMM377BLK MobiAir Bluetooth Stereo Speaker Dock. When paired with my Lenovo Thinkpad x120e the speakers will randomly stop playing. Bluetooth is still paired, media player still playing music, no errors from Windows (have tried various media players, same issue, speakers randomly stop playing music). If I press the play/pause button on the speakers it will pause the media player and you can hear the music stop - press play/pause again will resume playback normally - for a while. No preset time, it can go for up to an hour before it will just randomly 'mute' the speakers. Pressing Play/Pause twice will resume normal operation - for a while.

In contrast when I pair with my Android phone the same speakers work flawlessly.

I have a different pair of bluetooth speakers (Sony RDX-200IP) that I pair with this same laptop and those work perfectly.

Windows 7 is just finicky with bluetooth speakers - maybe someone else could recommend you a good pair that works with 7 (the Sonys are very good and come with remote).

Are you even sure your laptop has Bluetooth physically installed? My Lenovo notebook has software for Bluetooth (which is less than stellar, btw) but, after fooling around with trying to pair it up to my phone, it finally dawned on the notebook simply didn't have a built-in Bluetooth device, even though it appeared to (thank you, Lenovo; mutter, mutter, mumble, mumble).

I had bought a Bluetooth dongle for my desktop and I never could get it to work, even after downloading and installing the manufacturer's driver, so I tried a different one (ASUS USB-BT400 USB 2.0 Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter - Newegg.com). Win 7 found and automagically downloaded the correct driver for it and my computer was able to see it but I was unable to get it to pair up to my phone until found out I needed to access a file called fsquirt.exe (thankyou, MS, for making the file name so intuitive; more muttering and mumbling). Once I opened that file and did some more fooling around with it (including loudly using words Mama told me not to use) I finally stumbled on how to get the BT to pair up with my phone so I could download pictures from my phone to my computer.

So, for my notebook, I got another one of the same dongle, plugged it into one of my notebook's USB 2.0 ports, then, then after Win 7 found the correct driver, opened up fsquirt.exe and, after a bunch of fooling around, etc., got it to pair up to my phone. At least, once you get it paired up properly, it will automagically do so all the time after that.

One quick note about BT and music. Bluetooth is a lousy interface for music. See https://www.howtogeek.com/354321/why...n-windows-pcs/ for more on this. One reason is it is impossible to find BT 5.0 dongles; 4.0 is the best I ever could find.

    No

After messing around with this all day I've come to the same opinion. Bluetooth just plain sucks for music quality.

I got it to work briefly by installing Intel's latest version package then the Toshiba's patch for Windows 7.

Then I noticed windows wanted to update the Bluetooth driver? After looking into the Speakers - properties - advanced - Default Format I noticed instead of the usual "24 bit 192000 HZ Studio Quality it would not go any higher than 16 bit Extremely Low Quality. So I let windows update the driver and again back to square one.

I'm sticking with the wire for my laptop for now and will use them for the TV Bluetooth connection. Unless Toshiba comes up with a newer patch, I'd rather have a faster overall laptop with higher quality sound then the alternative.

I restored from my backup and am turning off the bluetooth service.

Thanks to Everyone for your kind assistance.

I have to disagree. Your Harman Kardon SoundSticks connect flawlessly to your TV. My MobiAir Bluetooth speakers work wonderfully with my Android phone and Ipad2.

Windows just plain sucks for bluetooth. Some things will work perfectly, some won't. It's hit-or-miss. I'm aware of the limitations with BT audio/codecs but the sound quality from my Sony BT speakers is awesome when using with my Lenovo laptop.
