Usually the bad block refers to the disc, not the player. Perhaps you can get a screenshot of the exact message.

I don't know how you know there is a bad block. You didn't post a screen shot of the message that tells you that.

Do you have the latest firmware (they may call it a driver) for your player from Lenovo?

Can you answer my question? Try another disk and see if that still won't work. If not, the the DVD/RW drive is busted. Buy a new one for around $15.

hello, oops ive accidently wiped my c drive, bloody repair programmes!, its locked me right out, when I turn on its a black screen with a padlock, ive sent it back to get fixed, can anyone recommend if the manufacturer can fix it, or will I need to purchase a new one, does it sound like a bios lock?

Are you saying that you cant enter BIOS (require a password)?

You should boot from a Linux flash drive and have a look at your disk to see what you have in it before reinstalling Windows.

Lenovo has a Factory Restore that will format the C: drive (you will loose all your data) and reinstall Windows from a Recovery partition on your disk.

yes well ive tried to reboot, I couldn't even turn on the bios button its a thinkpad, I don't have anything with it, no disk or anything, I have a win 7 repair that formatted my c drive,it needs a new installation, but yet again, I have no disk, the manufacturer has a usb, and maybe a disk(hopefully) if not my other tech will send me a disk,on this one ive done loads of recoverys that's not copying burning to disk, only copy
