Computer can't see external USB 2 or 3 ext drives on USB 3 ports

A couple of years ago, I bought a USB 3 card, and it worked perfectly with all external drives, whether they were USB 2, USB 3, or USB 3.1 Gen 1, or USB Gen 2. But all of a sudden, just starting last night, the card recognizes nothing.

I've reseated the card a few times, I've updated the drivers, applied all Windows updates. I've run disk check amd SFC. No problems have been reported, but it still doesn't work.

The machine is an older desktop running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro. It's using an Intel i3 duo CPU.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi can you test the card in another computer to see if it is the card or the computer.

    Hello

Can you check that the card is receiving power. There should be a cable running from the card to the power supply.

Thanks to you both for your suggestions. My voltmeter tells me that the power at the final connector is good. Also, just to be sure the disk is working, I connected the external drives to a USB 2.0 port, and they worked fine.

I've decided to table this issue since I'm only using the computer in question because of fatal BSODs that occur on two other computers that prevent me from even getting to Safe Mode. So I'm going to concentrate there (I'll be posting it here in the BSOD sub-forum.)

Thanks for your time anyway, kind responders...
