Upgrade DDR3 RAM on Asrock N68C-S UCC before reinstalling W7

    Hello,

I want to upgrade my Asrock N68C-S UCC from 2 gb to 4 gb DDR3 Ram and I'm not quite shure if the RAM I have here is compatible with it.
    At the moment the N68C-S UCC has 1x 1 GB DDR3 1333(9) 1 GX8 (VD3U1333B1G9-B) and 1x 1 GB 240 PIN DIMM 128 MX 64 DDR3 (RM12864BA13398FF)

    I want to remove those and insert 2x 2 GB 1Rx8 PC 3 - 10600 U - 9 - 10 - A0 (HMT325U6BFR8C - H9 N0 AA 1027)

Would that be compatible or will that destroy the board and I should get other RAM instead ?

Thanks in advance for your help

    regards
    -Frank

    Hello FrankZito,

What CPU are you using? If you are using AM3 CPU, then a matched HMT325U6BFR8C pair would be compatible. They are specified to draw 1.5V, the same as the DDR3 specification.

It is unnecessary to re-install Windows 7 after a RAM upgrade. Your present Windows instillation will automatically configure when it detects the new RAM sticks.

The AMD Athlon II X2 250 is a Socket AM3 processor. All AM3 socket processors were designed with the memory controller integrated into the CPU.

That means, when you install RAM, the RAM must match the capabilities of the AM3 memory controller.
Since the AMD Athlon II X2 250 is a socket AM3 CPU, then the RAM you have already chosen is a good match. Hence, this RAM is suitable for your computer.

Or refer your MB Documentation/Report for other alternatives: https://www.asrock.com/mb/memory/N68C-S%20UCC.pdf
