Old HDD works fine but replacement SSD freezes all the time

Not sure which section I should have asked this so if a mod wants to move it......

Old Acer Aspire 7720Z. Updated from Vista to Win 7 and then later added higher spec cpu and wireless card - unfortunately not able to add extra Ram. The additions were fitted by local Acer service centre. After this the machine ran ok but still very slow and service centre had advised upgrading to a SSD drive.

This machine has space for 2 hard drives. I have tried with both in situ or just one. I have used Macrium to clone the old HDD to the SSD. When this displayed the symptoms mentioned then clean installed twice using 2 different ISOs, cloned again and every time the SSD will display freezing - either when booting (wheel goes round and round) or the cursor freezes at some point. This can happen after using for an hour or more with no issues or only after 5/10 minutes.

Went away and after 3 weeks same issue so used a macrium back up to reinstall the old HDD (I had wiped it.)
I do not get any of these issues with the old/current HDD so could this be a SSD issue (was brand new when I purchased) or could there be some conflict which means this will happen whatever SSD I use?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Current HDD 150GB, new SSD 240GB ADATA SU630
When the SSD is working it is great..........

What extra settings are you referring to - or do you have a link to them?
Thanks

In case anybody comes across this I seem to have solved the issue by following some of the recommendations in the following plus others found on various sites
- 12 Things You Must Do When Running a Solid State Drive in Windows 7
Even though it talks about Win 10 in the article header.......

Fix to power options for which I cannot find the specific link

After tinkering and thinking it was fixed it froze again so used the script in this article and, touch wood, it seems to have worked -https://blogs.visigo.com/chriscoulson/ssd-freezing-fix/

After 10 days without the problems I had before I am hesitantly calling this fixed

BSOD/freezes a few times, then it works fine for a few hours
Hello there. :) I'm looking for help. I've had some problems with my PC this month and I can't really make it work properly. It freezes/crashes/has a BSOD randomly, mostly a few minutes after it starts. It seems like it isn't caused by overheating since these errors appear independently of stress...
