    Digital Camera Help

    Hello guys,

I have got a digital Camera from Hitachi. When I connect to my PC under Windows Vista nothing happens, I have tried different usb ports. My chipset etc drivers are up-to-date. Please help me.

Is this only in your vista build, (I see you dual boot), or is it a universal issue?

Surer transfers are possible if you can use a card reader and pop out your camera car when wishing to pop photos onto your PC, the cable transfer method is frequently far slower...

Also - and I'm not familiar with Hitachi Kit - some cameras need to be set up in their own software (in the camera menus) to go into download mode - some just need to be switched on others need a mode change

It use to work OK, I'm just wondering if the cable is faulty.

It is possible that the cable is faulty. Regardless of that, the easiest way of transferring data over is to use a card reader and access the SD/SDHC card (or other type of card, if your device uses a different sort) directly.

Some things to try .... to eliminate possible causes ...

Try the camera in Vista install - if this works then the issue is OS related - probably driver issues.

Try another USB device in the Win7 system - this will prove the operation of the USB sub-system

If possible get a replacement cable - a lot of systems now use generic USB connectors.
