Set up new SSD

I just got a new SSD to use as a back up drive for my system drive. I have Image for Windows on the computer to back it up. It has been a long time since I have done this and I have forgotten what I need to do to Set up the Drive.

If you still have your Win 7 on a HDD you should clone the HDD into the SSD and use the HDD for backups or data.
A SSD is six times faster than a HDD so it will boot in seconds rather than minutes.

Anyway, the best program to generate disk images or clone disks is Macrium free Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free
Hit Home, skip entering email and it will begin the download.

I use Macrium Reflect and Image for Windows, alternatingly, to make full images of my laptops' System Reserved partitions, C partitions, and D partitions. Many others simply use MR or IfW to make folder and file images of the data partition -- all onto affordable reliable external media.

I'm glad you got a new SSD. Good biz! But, SSD's are designed to look and act just like a spinner, to the bios and OS. Only YOU are aware of the difference.
The only difference in the way you treat an SSD is that you NEVER Defragment it.

I vehemently disagree that "Macrium is the BEST" program for backing up a HD. And, YES, I've tried it, and found it lacking.

I've been using Ghost, for all my cloning and backups since 1997, and I just cloned my 120GB SSD to a 1TB spinner yesterday, using Ghost 11.5. (the last DOS version of Ghost) It's Simple, Easy, and just never fails. Ghost doesn't care what OS you're using. It will backup any OS from DOS to Win-10/64. It also backs up Linux, or Win Server.

Good Luck Mate!
