Crucial M2 NVMe 1TB SSD driver issue
Hi,
I have just bought a 1TB Crucial M2 NVMe SSD drive to replace a WD SCSI drive that I use to contain user accounts. My boot drive is used for Windows 7 OS only. When I added the M2 drive to the M2 interface on my ASUS X99 Deluxe motherboard and rebooted I ran into a problem.
First, the new SSD drive was listed in the BIOS but is not showing in the Computer window or in Disk Mangement. Disk manager shows a PCI device that is not operational and is listed under Other devices. I have the Crucial Storage Manager S/W and this lists all the drives show in the Computer window but also is aware of the new SSD but the error message associated with it says that it cannot access the drive with the installed driver.
I think I have downloaded all the relevant driver from the ASUS website and installed them but the issue still exists. Searches on the internet have drawn a blank although there may be a solution if I install Windows on the drive. However I do not want this to be a boot drive but if it did solve the problem I am willing to give it a try.
Would be grateful if anybody has other suggestions before I go down this route.
Many thanks,
George
