Seeking new hard drive

Best of the day to you all.
I have a dell optiplex 745
whose earliest program install date is 2006, so I am assuming this comp is 14 years old

I would like to put a brand new medium speed hard drive in it, in another post i have been kindly

shown how to pull the "image" with a program, that home work behind me, I need to know

can i get a brand new hard drive, and what are the longest lasting.
I have been sold used junk as brand new 3 times, want to ovoid that

PS I do not, (despite their hi speed) want a solid state drive.

The Western Digital Black models are what I recommend.

HERE are 500 GB(465 GB actual capacity) and 1 TB(931 GB actual capacity) models.

WD blue 1tb is a good value 1tb disk (WD10EZEX) , quick for a mechanical spinner and in my experience very reliable.

If I remember correctly, the Dell OptiPlex 745 models use SATA2 hard disk drives.

Out of curiosity, why are you dead set against SSD? Their only drawback is that they are costlier but their price has dropped to the point where they are very competitive. A 500GB Samsung 860 SSD can be purchased for less than the 500GB WD Black drives suggested above.

But it is a lot more than the 1tb WD blue ( approx 37) vs Samsung 860 Evo 1TB SSD (140)

Thank you for a great avatar "Strollin"

I am part of the greatest generation too.
tho they (solid state) are faster then fat Freddy's cat to the tuna bowl, they have a break down rate that scares me.
But some folks get lucky and never have a problem, but many do.
Tho i don't yet know how to do it, back yours up.
