kingston pendrive problem

I`ve got a problem with Kingston 8Gb pendrive. I plug it in at home (Windows 7) and it works fine. When I plug it in at work (W7 as well), I cannot copy some files. From what I see it stucks at 1.5Gb and when I try to copy more files (regardless of file size) it says that the device is full. Any ideas?

Try to format it as NTFS and use it like that instead.

It says that the device cannot be formated because it is write protected o_0? Wtf?

Try clicking "Reset Device defaults" on the Format screen.
Also try entering the following into a command prompt:
diskpart
list disk
select disk # (be deadly sure it' the right disk!)
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=ntfs quick
assign
exit
exit

Thanks for the simple instructions, Stu.

Try Low level formatting it.

BTW, where did you get this pen drive from?

Do you have any software installed on it that was pre-packaged?

No prepackaged software. I`ve tried the low format and event consulted with the kingston support - it seems that my pendrive is dead now. How weird that it died after plugging it into W7...
Anyway I guess this case is solved, I'm on to buy a new drive :/

A word of warning to all of you: my friend had the same case and lost his pen as well. I've tried another pendrive I had (which was pretty old so I wouldn't mind if it broke) and guess what... it broke too. I'm going to be VERY VERY reluctant to plug any pendrives or flashes into W7 after that.

Try updating your USB drivers. It seems stange to me that Windows could break the drives like that.

Kingston/Ricoh SD card 8 GB always warns to scan but no problem found
I have a Kingston/Ricoh SD card (8 GB). When I eject it via "safely remove hardware" tray icon and then insert it to another laptop, it always warns to scan for errors but after scanning there is always no problem found. Why do I always get this scary warning? A USB key (also 8 GB) does not do this.
