Logitech web cam won't work for windows &

Hey guys I hope you can help a bit.
I just got a logitech webcam as a gift from a friend and I can't get it to work. The drivers will not load correctly. I spent 2 hours today on a tech call with the webcam co and they told me to do everything I have done. I downloaded the newest programs from the web site.

This is the error I get when the drivers try to install.

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
I tried a clean install with the cam software and drivers and still no luck.

    Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Stephen.

Which webcam is it? Is it usb? Are the drivers and software for windows 7? Fill out your system specs.

Did you first uninstall the software you had on before installing the new?

Have you tried right clicking on the install file and in properties on the compatibility tab checking run in compatibility mode for and trying any of the vista options?

Do you know where you downloaded the file to? If so go where the file is and right click on it and follow above, click apply and ok.
