    Hi

i believe the KB in question is 3086255.
    have a read of this
Windows Vista/7/8 update prevents some old CD-ROM games from running | PCWorld

what error message do you get, the update has to do with drm,
other option could be caused by changing the/your cd region

The only errors i ever get is telling me to choose a different disc( to write to); otherwise they just ignore a disc to try to read from. My usb external drives work fine on both laptops.
