I wouldn't mind adding another Seagate to RAID it - but I've run out of room

There's a lot of things you can do. Do you have any defrag software? I use Diskeeper 2010 Pro Premier, and it does such a great job I won't run a PC without it now. Yeah, it makes that much of a difference in performance.

Sure there are, if your willing to pay for an SSD. All SATA drives are pretty close in performance. I'm sold on Seagate, so that drive you have would be fine by me. The prices on SSD's should be coming down shortly though. I'll wait it out until I can afford a OCZ SSD.

This the result of first partition of a WDC Black SATA III 1 TB and a Hitachi Desktar SATA II 1 TB setting up as RAID0 in ICH10R.

Any ideas of this result? since i just got 5.9 under WEI.

Pity you didn't test the WD SATA 6GB/s by itself. I'm thinking of getting one and am curious.

Hard Drive Partitioning Performance Issues
The current hardware is available: 1 x 120GB 1 x 250GB 1 x 1TB 1 x 1TB I intend to store my data on all of the HDDs but as the 1TBs are newer than the other smaller ones, their performance is also much better. So if I partition lets say one of the 1 TB HDDs like: Partition 1 60GB - OS
