    I think you are confusing Sata II which is also Sata 3.0gbps. Drives which are actually Sata III are still around the corner.

    I tried benchmarking with HDTune pro. Just before it finished it word shutdown my PC.

    thats what it sounds like, unless they have a $600 sata3 mechanic drive and a sata3 mobo

    hmmm, you checked all the ATA devices? maybe your drive is a sata1 not sata2. but if it is sata2, then maybe check the back of the HDD to make sure there is no tiny jumper bridging it to sata1 speeds, when i first got my seagate 1tb sata2 drive i ran it for a couple months, then found this thread, tested it and wondered why it was so slow, then i investigated only to find the factory default jumper was installed to switch it to sata1, once i removed it speeds almost doubled! its got me stuffed why they would put a sata1 jumper on it in the first place
    Umm it's a sata3 I think. It is connected physically into like port #6 or #7, leaving the first few ports empty.
    i would take your HDD out and check the back of it where the connectors are to see if there is a tiny jumper connected there. like i said if there is, just get some tweezers or something, pop it out and test it again. (it wont hurt it, but do take note of its position in case you need to put it back)

    i have never heard of anyone having an issue with HDtune (apart from myself because my laptop hdd had alot of bad sectors)
