Here's my HDD :) Lookin' pretty fine, I guess ^^
Can someone tell me if this is a fair result? :)
Just a comparison between 640GB WD Black .. and a 320GB WD Blue.
Windows7 x64 Ultimate
Asus P6T Motherboard
Intel i7 920 @ 2.67 GHz
12 GB of Corsair RAM @ 1600 MHz (Dominator)
Areca 1210 RAID Controller - PCIe
2 150GB WD Velociraptors in RAID0-Striped (OS... the new 10k 2.5s with heatsinks)
2 320GB Seagate 7200.11 in RAID0 on on-board Intel RAID (Data, My Docs, etc...)
GTX295 nVidia Video
CPU and GPU are water-cooled, but nothing is currently OC'd.
.
Quick test on the HD's 4-WD160GB Blue Label in Raid 0 Also waiting for the SSD drives to drop in price.
That would be nice. I am afraid, we'll have to wait another 3 years before there is a significant drop in price. Also waiting for the SSD drives to drop in price.
I don't think it will take that long at all. In fact, i started looking at the Intel 80GB drives when they were over $500 and when I bought mine I found it for $249-$289. So, within about 1 year they dropped in price by 1/2. As more and more mfg's get into the game with strong controller (Indillinx and SandForce)...you will see more drives and better prices.
Unfortuantely, from what I have read....due to recessions and slower economies worldwide...pc production and part production has slowed thus resulting in slightly higher prices and that trend is expected to continue for the next year or so. For example, look at the price of memory..specifically DDR2. It's has nearly doubled in the past 6 months.
