When I get that old ide drive that XP wouldn't stall onto plugged in I bet I will be able to show you a real blast! Try a drive where the heads are practically toast.

I could grab the PC that's in the garage for true hilarity as well. It has Win 98 on it, and a 4 GB HD.

That large! Gosh golly that ole tub I had 3.1 on saw 50mb upgraded to a 500mb deal in those days!

The next desktop or flat top rather with two 5 1/4 floppy drives later saw a 1.4gb bonus! Did you know that it still has 95 on it and runs.

lol thats not even enough for the win7 o/s install. 3.5 hours to go and ill post the bench!

edit, gees im a noob, hdtune.

edit: just been trying HDtune pro 2.55 and while benching (1/4 way through) it shows "read error" and cancels, is this due to having some bad sectors?

I would say. I have the 2.51 version freeware version on here that runs without a glitch. I just downloaded and ran the 255 free version available now without a glimer seen either. Generally it's a reliable light weight utility seen there.

well this i put hdtune 3.50 pro on the laptop, both shots are what it will get to then show io error test aborted. i think it is due to the bad sectors, though im not worried it runs fine.

well i bit the bullet and threw 7 7057 x86 on my travelmate and it runs amazingly faster than it did in vista ult x32 with all the same programs on it. the only prob i got is i cant get the vista sidebar working as i cannot find a 'working' vista x32 windows sidebar copied folder. my x64 win7 vista bar works great on my main rig. so if anyone could give me some advice on where to find one i will be grateful as its the last thing i need to do to it.

installed from a fresh install, i was hoping that the system could some how make it not write to the bad sectors? i don't know if there is software to do that, is there?
a fast error scan shows no bad sectors, so im guessing this would mean that they arn't that bad yet?
