I would still like my children blue squares back if anyone knows how. Plus it tries to check disk every time whether I select win7 or 10 which is annoying.
Just type this in the command prompt? And does it matter if I do it in win7 or win10?
I havent tried.
According to the article below it can be changed back to the kindergarten style menu
Enable the legacy Windows 7-like boot menu in Windows 10
So when I finally tried this, it was not worth it.
Now I have no boot selection, it auto goes to Win7 and freezes at startup. Can't get into safe mode of any kind as it freezes there too and bios sees the win10 drive but not in the boot menu. Really screwed me up for something I didn't actually need.
Can't even get into an OS to try. I made a UEFI win7 USB boot again and that brought me to the blue squares. Nothing helped to repair, I went into command prompt but I guess I can't as an admin because I tried to use the command to go back to legacy boot but it said access denied.
Do it from booted win10/11 winpe.
If you made a backup of the previous bcd store, you can just use that to replace the current not working bcd.
Otherwise probably easiest to redo it. From booted winpe browse to the bcd store and rename or delete it.
Then run bcdboot commands to create new store with entries for your two os.
If you are stuck with the standard ms winpe and you dont know what you are doing, you can borrow one of my pe so you can see what you are doing.
cant remember what is in this one I made a while ago, but it will do
23v7.iso
23v7.iso needs to be extracted to bootable usb stick for best reults.
Much appreciated! I have never worked with this before but I'll probably be able to fumble my way through it. I'm going to assume to create a GPT bootable drive with this. Will let you know how it goes when I work on it.
