Bluetooth device not available on Sony Vaio FW-480J

Hey friends. So my issue is my internal bluetooth radio is not being recognized at all on my computer. Device manager shows nothing having to do with bluetooth, dev manager has no yellow exclamation marks either, new drivers do nothing, new WIDCOMM software does nothing... I had my logitech MX-5000 desktop working perfectly in vista on this very computer with the internal radio. I upgraded to 7 and I've had this issue.

    Sony VGN-FW480J
Windows 7 (upgraded from Vista to 7 via Sony's upgrade kit)

    Hi and welcome

If it worked on vista and is the same hardware it should work in win 7. More often than not it is the driver. What model radio, computer, 32bit or 64? etc

I beleive the radio is Broadcom... All sony's site says is Integrated Stereo A2DP Bluetooth® technology (2.1 + EDR).

I tried the new driver and nothing happened.

It's 64 bit. Thanks for the reply zigzag.

I have Vaio VGN-FW465J, and I have a very similar problem after the kit upgrade from Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit, except that my bluetooth radio is recognized in my user account, but not in my admin account. If I am not logged into my user account, then my device manager shows nothing either. If I log into my user account first and then switch user over to my admin account, then all is well.

I have un/reinstalled the drivers and software from the Sony site. I have tried the Vista and the Windows 7 drivers. Still the same. Anyone know a fix?

    Thanks!

I can't seem to get to my BT radio either - VPCW211AX. Device manager doesn't see it?

OK my problem is solved. The BT radio was off. I had to open the SmartWi Connection Utility to turn it on. Doh.
